PHOSPHENE

PHOSPHENE supplies induction loop systems for the hard of hearing throughout East Anglia.
Over the past twenty years we have supplied loop systems in churches, in doctors' surgeries, in residential homes, in private houses, in multi purpose halls and, of course, in theatres and cinemas. (We've even supplied a loop system in a betting office!)
Loop systems allow hearing aid users to receive a magnetically induced signal, (by switching to the 'T' setting on their hearing aid) which may offer advantages over the signal obtained from the built in microphone of their hearing aid.
The provision of an induction loop (or alternative infra red system) in public buildings is obligatory under document 'M' of the building regulations of 1996 in all new or modified buildings.

PHOSPHENE supplies induction loop systems for you to install, using Signet AVX loop amplifiers. These incorporate expansion and compression circuitry to ensure that the signal is suitable for the hearing aid user, as well, of course, as the dedicated loop amplifier circuitry, and can arrange for site visits following installation to align the system to the appropriate field strength.

We are equipped with the test gear required to ensure installation is to BS6083 Pt4
All the loop amplifiers supplied to us by Signet are built to BS EN55103.

Don't forget that the 2004 Disability Discrimination Act means that if you provide a service to the public you must make provision for the hard of hearing.

To obtain a quote for a loop in your building call us on 01449 770011 or email us on cliff@phosphene.freeserve.co.uk giving the dimensions of your venue (the space you need the loop to cover) in metres (sorry we'd rather use proper feet and inches too but it happens to be easier to do the sums this way!) and we will issue a firm quote for the equipment you need almost immediately.
Remember that most buildings can be fitted with loops. The only real problems arise where the building contains very large quantities of metalwork or is in an position that makes it prone to very high levels of (usually mains induced) hum from external sources. We can test for this sort of interference on site if you are in doubt. Please let us know when requesting a quote if you suspect your building is full of metal. The only place we've met real problems in fifteen years of fitting loops was in a Victorian Corn Exchange (built of cast iron!) and even there we were able to achieve an acceptable field strength eventually.
PHOSPHENE offers (as in all areas of LX and sound we cover) a prompt, reliable and above all economical service.

Notice to Electrical Contractors:-
Phosphene is delighted to offer you free advice, and to sell you loop amplifiers, microphones, loop cable, accessories and so on on a CWO basis. We are also happy to arrange to attend on site (in the immediate vicinity of our Stowmarket premises) and adjust any loop systems you have installed to conform to the BS requirements, for a small fee. (Assuming you have bought parts for from us) However Phosphene never operates as a sub-contractor to builders, architects or electical contractors, and will not do so.
